Cycle safely… wear a helmet!

Home / News / Cycle safely… wear a helmet!

This week has been National Road Safety Week. Children have been completing activities in class and discussing key messages about how to stay safe on the roads. It is essential that our children know how to safely cross the road and use their bicycles proficiently. We encourage all parents to continue these discussions at home and help to teach children these essential life skills. Please take the time to demonstrate how to cross the road safely on your way to and from school.

As part of our learning this week, it has become evident that very few of our children have cycle helmets. As the weather becomes more wintery and evenings are dark, it is crucial that our children are visible on the roads. Please make sure that if your child comes to school on their bike they are wearing a helmet. This is a must to keep them safe! You should also consider hi-vis jackets and bicycle reflectors to ensure they are visible to drivers.

Thank you to all our parents who always park away from school when dropping off their children. This is essential to keep good visibility and helps to make sure our children are safe.
