“Share a story” Competition

Home / News / “Share a story” Competition

We are delighted to once again celebrate World Book Day within our school (week commencing 4th March). The children will take part in a range of activities throughout the week and on Thursday 7th March they will also have the opportunity to dress up as characters from their favourite stories.

To launch this week we would like to start off with the “Share a story” competition.  This activity has been created to encourage reading at home.  Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.

Please try to encourage your child to complete as many of the challenges as they can.  Once a challenge has been completed please sign next to the challenge your child has achieved. For those children who complete 15 or more challenges by Friday 8th March they will go into a draw to win a £20 book voucher, there will also be two runner up prizes of £10 book vouchers.

We would love to create a display with some of your children completing these tasks so please snap away and send in some photo’s to your child’s class teacher, alternatively the photos can also be emailed to office@partingtoncentralacademy.co.uk .

There will also be a variety of ideas sent home during this week to help support you and your child read at home, so please keep an eye out for these.

We would then love to invite you into school on Friday 8th March at 2.30pm where staff will showcase what wonderful activities your children have been involved with.  Please note this is not an assembly with the children, however we would like to offer you the opportunity to take home a story book to keep which can be shared with your child that evening

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Wright
