Manchester Day is celebrated every year in central Manchester with a carnival and parade. It celebrates everything that’s good about Manchester – its diverse culture, unique history, music scene, sports etc.

On Friday 21st June we will ask children to come in with festival/carnival hats and headwear and donate 50p or a prize for the summer fair tombola (All other uniform remains the same). Don’t worry if you haven’t got time to get this, during the day the children will have the opportunity to make carnival hats, learn about the history of Manchester (e.g. industry, suffragettes etc.), study the geography (e.g. canal network, travel networks), listen to music from Manchester bands, study artwork (e.g. Lowry), explore the diverse culture, sports rivalries, architecture……the opportunities are endless!

This will also hopefully encourage them to attend the celebrations in Manchester on Sunday 23rd June as well!
