SPRING (2) – February 2019

Our work in Science will continue to focus on different types of materials.

In RE we will be learning about the story of Easter.

In Geography we are learning about the ‘local area’.

In English we are learning the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.

In Maths we will be focusing on shape, measurement and money. Lots of practice at home will be beneficial too!

In PE, we are working with Team Theme and doing gymnastics with our teacher.

 

SPRING (1) – January 2019

We would like to take the opportunity to let you know about some of the things we will be learning about this half term.

Our work in Science will focus on recognising and sorting different types of materials.

In RE we are looking at Christianity and friendship.

In History the children will learning about a ‘famous person’. We will be studying the life and work of Charles Darwin.

In English we will be looking at  poetry about houses and homes.

In Maths we will be focusing on shape, measurement and money. Lots of practice at home will be beneficial too!

In PE, we are working  with Manchester United and  we will also be studying dance.

Weekly homework will consist of most weeks:

  1. Reading book—minimum of 3 times a week
  2. Spellings
  3. English (alternate weeks)
  4. Maths (alternate weeks)

 

AUTUMN 2 – November 2018

Our work in Science will focus mainly on animals, and our trip to Knowsley Safari Park will incorporate a lot of learning related to this topic.

In Geography the children will learn about seasonal changes, and hot and cold climates around the world.  We’re sure that your children would love to discuss these places with you at home.

In English we will be learning how to write instructions—particularly how to trap a dragon! The children will need to know lots of ‘bossy verbs’.

In Maths we will be focusing on place value, and addition and subtraction within 20. Lots of practice at home will be beneficial too!

In PE, we are continuing with Team Theme and Gymnastics.

AUTUMN 1 – September 2018

Our work in Science will focus upon the human body, the senses and the seasons. Please look out for seasonal changes and discuss these with your children.

In History the children will learn about old and new objects  and looking at old photographs. Please could you bring in a named baby photograph of your child asap!!!

In English we will be learning about nursery rhymes and traditional fairy tales. Please share these with your children at home if you know any!

In Maths we will be focusing on number formation to 20,  both numbers and words and place value.  We’re sure they will be keen to practise at home!
